The 7th Asia-Pacific Lasallian Youth Congress (2004), Hong Kong

Message from Brother Patrick Tierney,
Area Director of the De La Salle Brothers in HKSAR

The Chinese have a saying: "It is such a delight having friends coming from afar." What a pleasure it is to welcome our Lasallian friends from afar. Your presence brings joy to our hearts. I hope you will feel at home in our Hong Kong Lasallian world and form lasting friendships. This is part of the "Together" theme.

Sometimes we stand back and begin to realize how well off we are. Perhaps we have been blessed in our homes, schools and places of work. We have the freedom to do so many things.

As loyal sons and daughters of St. De La Salle we, however, feel the urge to serve the less fortunate. In particular we are concerned with less fortunate children. Can we, can you, make a difference in the lives of the needy?

May I take this opportunity to say a mighty thank you to Brother Thomas Lavin and members of the preparatory committee. They have left no stone unturned to ensure the success of the Congress. Our thanks also to the presenters, Facilitators and student helpers, to our generous sponsors and indeed to all who have contributed in one way or another to APLYC7.

May our loving and merciful Father keep us in his care.

Welcome from Brother Thomas Lavin, Chairman of the APLY7 Organizing Committee
