Dear Members of the Hong Kong Lasallian Family,
Happy Easter!
As we celebrate the Resurrection of Christ this year, after our milestone of 150 years of Lasallian mission in Hong Kong, we move from the quiet reflection of Lent into the joyful light of new life.
Pope Leo XIV, during the Lenten season, challenged us to “disarm our language” and listen more deeply to the cries of those who suffer. Easter is the ultimate proof that God hears those cries. The empty tomb tells us that love and life have the final word over darkness and pain.
As we celebrate this joyful season, my heart turns toward a deep hope for peace in our world. We are all too aware of the warring countries and conflicts that continue to cause such great suffering to humankind. As Lasallians, our mission is centered on the well-being of the young, and it breaks our hearts to see how war negatively affects children—robbing them of their safety, their education, and their innocence.
This Easter, we pray earnestly for an end to these conflicts. We hope for a world where “words of hatred give way to words of hope,” and where every child can grow up in a community of security and care.
Let us carry the lessons of Lent into this Easter season. By continuing to “fast” from hurtful words and instead choosing kindness and inclusion, we become the “civilization of love” that our world so desperately needs. May the Risen Lord fill your hearts and your families with lasting peace, health, and joy.
Live Jesus in our hearts. Forever!
Fraternally yours,
Br Dennis Magbanua FSC
